Joshua ‘will make US debut against Miller on June 1’ with announcement expected Monday
AJ has scrapped his April 13 Wembley date and will make his stateside bow at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York
ANTHONY JOSHUA will face Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller in June, with an announcement imminent, according to reports.
ESPN claim the WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight champ will make his US debut against the unbeaten Brooklyn fighter at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York.
Confirmation of the fight is expected on Monday as a deal between promoters Eddie Hearn and Greg Cohen has been agreed, but yet to be signed off.
Joshua’s fight against Miller will be streamed on the DAZN platform in the states and will be the 29-year-old’s first appearance outside the UK as he looks to build his profile stateside.
ESPN Boxer reporter Dan Rafael said: “Unified heavyweight world titleholder Anthony Joshua and top contender Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller will meet on June 1 at Madison Square Garden after their promoters came to terms.”
The Brit had an April 13 booked for Wembley Stadium and was hoping to face Deontay Wilder.
But after negotiations broke down last year Wilder went on to retain his WBC heavyweight title against Tyson Fury in December with a controversial draw in Los Angeles.
Joshua then turned his attention to his rival and fellow Brit Dillian Whyte.
However, talks broke down leaving AJ with no option other than scrapping his Wembley date and search for an alternative opponent.
Joshua has an unblemished record of winning all 22 of his fights with 21 knockouts.
His last appearance was last September stopping Alexander Povetkin in seven rounds in London.
