Who is Bernice Schkair?

Bernice Schkair is a 27-year-old model from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

She is the ex-girlfriend of Emiliano Sala, the Cardiff City footballer who went missing in a plane over the English Channel on January 22, 2019.

She speaks Spanish, English and Italian, according to her .

Her Instagram shows pictures of her recent travels to European cities as well as photos of her modelling in bikinis and lingerie.

It is unclear how long she dated Sala or when they broke up.

What did Schkair say about Sala’s disappearance?

The model tweeted on January 22 pleading for the “football mafia” to be investigated over Emiliano Sala’s disappearance.

She wrote: “Investigate the football mafia because I do not believe it was an accident.”

The tweet was later deleted.

Sala was on board a Piper Malibu plane travelling from Nantes to the Welsh capital Cardiff when it disappeared.

On January 24, the search for Sala and pilot Dave Ibbotson was called off following the crash on January 21.

Guernsey Police confirmed they were "no longer actively searching" for the missing pair or the light aircraft which vanished over the Channel Islands.

Following the announcement, Schkair urged presidents to "intervene" in the search for Sala.

She said: "Emiliano Sala has to appear and be resolved through justice, we ask the presidents to intervene in the search!"

The model also said in an emotional post on social media: “I want to wake up and all of this to be a lie. Please investigate because I cannot believe this accident.

"I feel impotent, I’m in a nightmare. I cannot stop thinking about you, Emi."

On January 26, Lionel Messi and a host of football stars raised £200,000 for a private rescue mission.

At this time Schkair told Argentine media outlet Infobae she believed he was still alive "living on an island"  and shed light on her previous "football mafia" comments.

She said: "It was an impulse. I sensed there was something strange, dark. But I don't have information about anything.

"The only thing I felt was if a plane disappears off the face of the Earth, two people disappear and nobody wants to search for them and everything stays covered then it is something strange."

She added: "I want to think it was an accident but then I feel that there was a series of irresponsibilities which brought about this horror.

"The irresponsibility is a little bit on everyone's part. Why was the pilot there if he didn't have the correct licence?

"Why did the plane take off anyway despite Emi saying it was bad? Why did they send a plane in bad condition?

"Why did they take off in that weather? Why did the club not look after him if they had bought a player of that level?"

Has Sala been found?

On February 4 search crews discovered the missing aircraft - 13 days after it disappeared.

It emerged that a body was visible in the plane.

The devastated model shared a picture of the £15m striker with the caption #prayforsala as investigators prepared to recover the body.

The Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB) said they have successfully removed the body that was seen in footage of the wreck, which is 220ft deep.

The Cardiff City striker's body was identified by the Dorset coroner on Thursday, February 7 - but so far there has been no reported trace of pilot David Ibbotson.

His devastated sister Romina led the tributes to the talented footballer, saying: “Your soul will shine forever.”

Schkair posted a picture on social media captioned “Forever close to you" with the words: "Never give up #justiceforemilianosala.”

On Instagram she shared a picture of a rose silhouetted on the sea.
