CARDIFF CITY have distanced themselves from pro-Brexit comments made by Neil Warnock following the Bluebirds' draw against Huddersfield on Saturday.

The outspoken manager launched a surprising pro-Brexit rant despite the fact that his side are owned by a Malaysian millionaire and have players representing ten different nationalities.

Warnock, 70, dismissed claims that Brexit will make it harder to sign up European players and insisted the certainty of leaving will actually help British sport.

He also said he was looking forward to leaving the EU, insisting Britain would be better off "in every aspect" after the divorce and “to hell with the rest of the world”.

But a Cardiff spokesperson said today: “Comments made by our manager following Saturday’s fixture are representative of his personal political stance.

“These comments do not reflect the political position of Cardiff City Football Club, nor its Board of Directors.”

The Welsh side are currently embroiled in a relegation battle this season and, after Saturday's goalless home draw to Huddersfield, sit 17th in the Premier League.

Warnock's lastest outburst comes after he laid into Manchester United players for diving and labelled Liverpool "disgraceful" over Nathaniel Clyne’s transfer.

It is particularly as shocking considering Cardiff City's cosmopolitan dressing room is made up of players from from Africa, Asia, Europe and North America.

Warnock said: "I think once the country knows what they're doing and we get an agreement and move on, I think it will be straightforward [to sign players].

"But I don't know why politicians don't do what the country wanted if I'm honest. They had a referendum and now we see politicians and everyone else trying to put their foot in it.

"Why did we have a referendum in the first bloody place? I can't wait to get out if I'm honest.

"I think we'll be far better out of the bloody thing. In every aspect.

"To hell with the rest of the world. Football-wise as well."
