CHELSEA fans hailed Olivier Giroud for scoring two incredible 'goals' - even though both strikes were ruled out for being offside.

N’Golo Kante’s third goal of the season was enough to see Chelsea claim a narrow 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

The French midfielder continued his reinvention as an attacking force which saw many Blues fans harshly hail Kante as a better finisher than Morata and Giroud.

Giroud can consider himself unlucky with that label, having seen two wonder strikes marginally ruled out and his efforts didn't go unnoticed by sections of footy fans.

Twitter user John Burke wrote: "Giroud only scores bangers. Shame it was offside."

User WorldWideChels agreed with that post, writing: "Olivier Giroud is such a world-class finisher, that's two amazing finishes that were unfortunately offside."

Another posted: "Got to feel for Giroud - he's criticised for not scoring enough goals, then he scores two screamers today and they're both wrongly given offside."

Maurizio Sarri has played Eden Hazard as a 'false nine' in recent weeks but injuries to Pedro and Callum Hudson-Odoi saw the France striker brought back into the fold.

Giroud was selected for the game against Palace as the central striker, but he was otherwise barely involved in the game.

Morata, meanwhile, was once again named on the bench, with rumours swirling that he could exit Stamford Bridge in January.

The Spain striker, 26, has failed to convince Stamford Bridge boss Maurizio Sarri he is the man he needs up top with just four league goals so far this season.
