AMIR KHAN’S long-awaited scrap with rival Kell Brook could finally be over after he admitted the fight will go ahead in “March or April.”
The Bolton-born fighter looked certain to disappoint boxing fans by turning his back on Brook and taking on Terence Crawford instead.
But after watching Brook struggle to secure a points win over Michael Zerafa, Khan admitted his attentions has now turned to an all-British match-up.
Speaking to Berkeley Assets, he said: “I just think that sometimes that long layoff he [Brook] had can harm your body,
“Plus there’s a lot of people saying that outside the gym, outside of fighting, he [Brook] doesn’t live the professional life,
“We’ve the same promoter in Eddie Hearn, hopefully that fight can happen, probably March or April.
“I’ll go back into camp, I’ll be back in America again, I’ll start training camp over there.”
Hearn has been building towards this fight since he signed Khan on a three-fight deal in January.
He is set to make around double the £4million deal he would have pocketed for fighting WBO welterweight champ Crawford.
Hearn recently said of the potential scrap: “Khan vs Brook is the fight that his people want.
“Nobody is calling for the Crawford fight. Have you seen the British public saying, ‘You’ve got to fight Crawford?’
“When Khan and Brook get together it will be the biggest thing going, because they cannot stand each other. And it will be the most epic build-up for a completely 50-50 fight.”
