SIR Alex Ferguson has been given a blast of the hairdryer treatment - by docs concerned over his health.

Ex-Manchester United supremo Fergie, 76, accepted a red card ban from Saturday’s 4-1 Old Trafford win over Fulham after his medical team were alerted to his enthusiastic attendances to United’s last three games.

They spotted him on match days at three successive games in just nine days including an adrenalin pumping 2-2 draw away at Southampton.

That was sandwiched in between a Champions League game at home with Swiss outfit Young Boys and the crunch Premier League match with old foes Arsenal which they managed to draw.

But that was seemingly enough for the medical experts who have guided the old boss back to health – and they decided it was time he served a one match ban at least to calm things down – Saturday’s game with Fulham.

One Old Trafford veteran revealed: “Sir Alex was nowhere to be seen and the word was he has agreed to the message from the medics – that is not to start overdoing things.

“They were concerned after seeing him on TV footage at the games – they then realised that he had been at three matches in just nine days including the lengthy trip to Southampton.

“We have been told Sir Alex took the advice on the chin and in his own inimitable style reluctantly agreed to it!

“He has done remarkably well in getting back to good health when things were really looking bleak – but even an old stubborn guy like him realises you have to listen when told what is good for you.”
