Harry Redknapp urges Arsene Wenger to enter I’m a Celebrity after being crowned King of the Jungle
71-year-old endured three weeks of bushtucker trials and rough sleeping in Australia to win the ITV series
HARRY REDKNAPP told Arsene Wenger to enter I’m A Celebrity after being crowned king of the jungle.
Out-of-work Redknapp, 71, endured three weeks of bushtucker trials and rough sleeping in Australia to win the ITV series — and then urged Wenger, 69, to give it a try while he too looks for a new role.
He said: “Arsene should get in there, he’ll love it. I’m not sure he could laugh as much as I did. I think he’d find it interesting.”
Redknapp added: “What would be a good idea is if football clubs take their players there on pre-season.
“Go in there for a week, same as we’ve done. That would be a bonding session. It would be great for team spirit.”
Redknapp’s last managerial position was at Birmingham, before getting the sack in September 2017 just five games into the season with the club second from bottom of the Championship.
And the former Spurs and West Ham boss admits he would he jumped at the chance to manage Fulham
had he been in the country — but would have avoided a return to ex-club Southampton.
He said: “Saints? I wouldn’t go back there, I cannot go through that again. Fulham? Absolutely I’d have been interested, a fantastic club.
“I’m glad to see Claudio Ranieri back, he did an amazing job at Leicester and then got the sack.
“It shows you’re never too old. He’s the same age as me.”
Redknapp admits he has considered retiring from coaching altogether after 34 years in the dugout.
But he then joked: “Having won the jungle, I’m waiting for one of the top six clubs to ring me. I’m ready.”
