Toby Alderweireld’s odds slashed for Manchester United move after Jose Mourinho’s promising transfer talks
Belgium international is the Special One's top target heading into the January transfer window
BOOKMAKERS have slashed the odds on Toby Alderweireld joining Manchester United in January.
The Tottenham ace is Jose Mourinho's No 1 target ahead of the transfer window as Alderweireld's future at Spurs remains in doubt.
Mourinho has been given the green light by Red Devils cheifs to sign the 29-year-old which has led to cutting their odds.
SunSport revealed the Special One had talks with his agent Jorge Mendes and United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward last week - where an agreement was reached on plans for the January transfer window.
Betfair Spokesperson Katie Baylis said: “With news that Alderweireld is now Mourinho’s No 1 defensive target we’ve slashed the odds of him leaving Spurs for United in the January transfer window from 11/2 to 7/2 this morning.
"These odds could shorten again as we get closer to the deadline.”
Alderweireld is out of contract next summer and there is plenty of speculation surrounding the defender's future.
Mourinho was demanding a world-class centre back in the summer but he did not get his wish which led to a number of public digs from Mourinho towards United's board.
Earlier this month Barcelona and Chelsea were previously linked with the defender by the bookies.
