Who is Alejandro Rochin? Boxing judge that scored Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder 115-111 leading to controversial draw

ALEJANDRO ROCHIN is the controversial boxing judge who denied Tyson Fury a stunning win over Deontay Wilder.

Fury was downed in the final round of his thrilling WBC title clash against the Bronze Bomber in LA.

The fight ended in a draw, even though most viewers seemed in agreement Fury had it won.

And incredibly, Rochin had Wilder winning the first four rounds even though Fury was well on top.

Rochin scored it 115-111 in favour of Wilder.

Who is Alejandro Rochin?

Rochin is a Mexico-born boxing judge who has scored on more than 1,000 fights, according to website boxrec.

He now lies in San Diego, California.

Rochin has been a judge since 1992.

The organisation he has most frequently judged on is WBC and the most frequent promoter is Golden Boy Promotions.

Rochin was inducted into the California Boxing Hall of Fame earlier this year.

Rochin scored the fight 115-111 in favour of Wilder.

Incredibly, Rochin also had the first four rounds 10-9 in the favour of Wilder even though Fury seemed well on top.

British judge Phil Edwards had it 113-113 while Canadian Robert Tapper scored it 114-112 in Fury's favour.

The fight ended in a draw.

Why was Rochin criticised?

Rochin was slammed for scoring the fight so heavily in Wilder's favour.

British legend Lennox Lewis said: "They need to get some good judges, these judges were terrible. I  had Fury miles clear.

"It happened to me and I knew it was going to happen to Tyson. Everybody could see who won. Tyson Fury won the fight and was leading on all cards."

Fury's trainer Ben Davison said of Rochin: "They just took away the best comeback in sport history. You've got to be a sick, sick man to do that.

"I'm sick and gutted. You have got to be a sick person to do that to a man like Tyson."

Fury's promoter Frank Warren said: "I thought Tyson won it by at least three rounds. How the judge gave it the way he gave it I do not know, terrible.

"It's a draw but everybody knows Tyson won it. One of those judges got it terribly wrong."
