Pep Guardiola’s odds for England job revealed as Man City boss eyes international football

Spaniard says a switch to a national team will happen 'sooner or later'

PEP GUARDIOLA is 6/1 to become England manager after showing his desire to manage a national team.

The Manchester City boss says it's merely a matter of time before he ventures into international football as he continues to break records in the Premier League.

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss has dominated club football throughout his career after winning 24 trophies in just nine years of management.

Guardiola says he is keen to make the switch to manage a national team when time is right.

Speaking at the University of Liverpool: "I would like to be an international manager in a national team. I would like that, yes.

"It will happen because every three days I would like to be involved but a little bit more calm, play more golf, now I don't have time to play.

"Sooner or later it is going to happen, if I have chance with an international team, if they come knocking at my door."

Spokesperson Katie Baylis said: “As one of the world’s best managers and still only in his 40s, it’s no surprise Guardiola has commented on his goal to coach at international level in the future.

"Argentina and Germany are at 3/1 and 5/1, while England is at 6/1 and may not be a bad bet considering his popularity in England and the respect he commands here even outside of the Manchester City faithful.”

Guardiola has also said he will not manage another team in the Premier League once his spell at the Etihad is over.

There is no suggestion Guardiola is looking to leave Man City in the near future, but the 47-year-old has a tendency to keep moving clubs despite being a success.

And international football would give him the platform to take his footballing philosophy into a different setting.
