MANCHESTER UNITED fans are desperate for Jose Mourinho to re-sign Memphis Depay in a sensational Old Trafford return for the Dutchman.
The forward has been tearing it up for both club and country this season - with his latest feat coming in the Netherlands' stunning victory over the world champs France where he scooped the man of the match award.
The 24-year-old produced a moment of magic with a panenka penalty during Friday's 2-0 win - humiliating Spurs shot-stopper Hugo Lloris.
And he has replicated his international form with his club Lyon - notching up five goals and five assists in 13 appearances.
But since he has left he has shown United fans what they missed and fans are urging Mourinho to buy back the tricky winger.
Depay left under a cloud in 2017 following a disastrous two year spell with the Red Devils.
The Old Trafford top brass forked out a healthy £30million fee for the wide-man in 2015 but he struggled to settle and was allowed to move on two years later for a £10million loss.
And from Wayne Rooney's description of the youngster at the time - you can see why he was let go.
Rooney said: "Memphis? He came on at Stoke away and messed up for their goal so Louis van Gaal made him play for the reserves the next day. I said, 'Look, it's a bit difficult for you. Just don't come in with all your fancy stuff.
"And he turned up for the reserve game in his Rolls-Royce, wearing a leather jacket and a cowboy hat. And I just thought, 'What's the point?'"
According to the , The 55-year-old Portuguese insisted on putting a buy-back clause on the Dutchman when he was sold to Lyon.
The fee for the Lyon ace in the buy-back is not known.
Man United have made mistakes before after failing to incorporate buy-back clauses for Paul Pogba and Wilfried Zaha - who is impressing for Crystal Palace.
And they might be hoping to capitalise on Mourinho's move and sign Depay in the hope of turning their season around.
