Kell Brook to fight unknown Aussie Michael Zerafa in comeback fight on 8 December setting up showdown with rival Amir Khan
The Sheffield star returns to the ring for the first time since March at the end of the year for a home town bout
KELL BROOK will take on Michael Zerafa in his comeback fight in Sheffield on December 8.
Brook, 32, has not fought since March but will return to the ring in his home town and will see the fight as preparation for a showdown with rival Amir Khan next year.
The Sheffield star announced yesterday he would return to the ring but did not name his opponent for the upcoming fight.
But the unknown Australian Zerafa came forward to announce he is set to take on Brook.
After his rival announced the date of his next fight, Khan was quick to spark another Twitter spat and labelled Brook’s next opponent a “bum”.
Khan said: “Really! You mention me in all your interviews saying ‘i want to fight khan next. All the crying you do, then u go and fight another bum.
“What’s the delay Kelly? Your a joke. Ps You better not lose in December! ‘I won’t be ringside!’”
Not one to back down, Brook replied with a series of laughing emojis.
He then said: “Who put 20p inside you last night? The ‘delay’ has always been the same Amy- waiting for you to put your webcam down and find your b******s!!
“And of course you won’t be Ringside! This is what happens whenever you’re within a 5 mile radius of me: #TooShookForBrook”.
But Zerafa was also keen to get in with the war of words, not afraid to back down and calling out Khan as his next opponent.
He told : “You can tell Amir Kahn that it’s funny how he talks smack once Kell Brook is booked for a fight. The truth is, Khan has been running scared for ages!
“Once I beat Kell Brook on December 8 I’ll be after him next, I’ll be handing toothpicks to Khan so he can get the leather out his teeth!
“Kell is a great fighter and champion. But I also see a ship with a lot of holes and too many holes leads to a sunken ship.
“He’s been in there with the best but believe I belong in the same ring as those fighters. I’m super-hungry for that win.
“December 8th, there will be a huge upset and will surprise a lot of people.”
Zerafa, 26, has lost just two of his 27 professional fights, including a defeat against Peter Quillin back in 2015.
But from his 25 victories, he has secured 14 knockouts. In comparison, Brook’s record stands at 37 wins and two defeats from 39 fights.
Zerafa added: “I love being the underdog and they have already overlooked me, which is great. I’m not the same fighter I was when I fought Peter Quillin. December 8 I will prove that.
“I’ve already dreamt of beating Kell Brook and replayed the fight over and over in my head. I was born for greatness and December 8 is the beginning.”
