Wayne Rooney’s odds of a shock Premier League return slashed after starring in MLS
Former Manchester United star's performances for DC United have made headlines as he has turned their season around
WAYNE ROONEY is in a rich vein of form in the MLS and Premier League clubs may take a gamble on the Manchester United legend.
The former England international has turned DC United's season around since arriving from Everton - scoring ten goals in 18 appearances.
Following his 30-yard free-kick in their 1-0 win over Toronto, his odds of a Premier League return have slashed to 8/1 from 20/1.
But the price of a an Old Trafford homecoming is 25/1.
A spokesperson said: “We’re not ruling out a stunning Premier League return for revitalised Rooney.
"The odds initially suggested he was heading Stateside to retire, but if he remains in this form there could well be a few clubs interested in luring him back to these shores to extend his career.”
Rooney is showing no signs of slowing down after he penned a three-and-a-half year deal in the summer.
The 32-year-old is 16/1 to play beyond his 40th birthday.
Since arriving Rooney has started in 16 of his 18 league appearances as he has become a key player for DC United.
