Alexandre Lacazette tells Arsenal to forget about Champions League spot despite stunning start to season

The French star has scored five goals so far this season, but doesn't want his side to get ahead of themselves

ALEXANDRE LACAZETTE claims Arsenal cannot think about a Champions League spot – despite their stunning recovery from a poor start to the season.

Unai Emery’s side lost their opening two games against Manchester City and Chelsea, but Sunday’s 5-1 win over Fulham was their ninth successive win in all competitions.

Arsenal, who have missed out on the Champions League in the last two seasons, are currently fourth and just two points off leaders City.

Lacazette said: “To talk about the top four is early. I think we have to keep quiet and work like we did before and the season is going well.

“The team spirit is good and of course, when you win it is better.

"We will enjoy it, we are working well and we want to continue like this.

“We knew with a new manager it would take time.

"We knew if we lost the first two games it wasn't the end of the world.

"We have worked and knew we could go forward, so everything is better now."

Lacazette has scored five times this season while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has grabbed six goals.

Asked about their impressive partnership, Aubameyang said: “He is like my brother. We talk everyday.

"We love to work together and today in front of the goal and we score, for us, two goals against Fulham, which is good.”
