Newcastle’s senior stars arrange crisis meeting in bid to save season after defeat to Leicester leaves Toon in Premier League’s relegation zone
Goalkeeper Martin Dubravka told Jamaal Lascelles to sort out an emergency summit with the message — Save Our Season
NEWCASTLE’S senior stars have arranged a crisis meeting in a bid to save their season.
Troubled Toon are in the drop zone with just two points from seven winless Premier League games.
The players held a dressing-room inquest after Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat to Leicester.
And keeper Martin Dubravka then told captain Jamaal Lascelles to sort out an emergency summit with the message — Save Our Season.
Newcastle’s slump has even alarmed owner Mike Ashley to the extent he is taking manager Rafa Benitez and his players out for dinner this week.
But the team still plan their own clear-the-air talks as they look to take responsibility for a wretched run of results.
Dubravka, 29, said: “We need to talk honestly and change something.
"We need to analyse everything but we have to be honest with each other.
“We’ve not done that until now. Of course, we need to stick together but let’s have this meeting and talk.
"If we want to change things, we have to start it off by doing it ourselves.”
Toon owner Ashley is hoping to build bridges after he attended his first game at St James' Park in 16 months on Saturday.
But he witnessed the club lose 2-0 after England World Cup star's Jamie Vardy and Harry Maguire found the net.
