Conor McGregor threatens to turn Khabib Nurmagomedov into a ‘bobblehead’
McGregor hasn't fought a competitive MMA bout in 23 months but feels his punching will see opponent hit the deck
CONOR McGREGOR has threatened to turn Khabib Nurmagomedov into a “bobblehead” when the pair collide this weekend.
The two unbeaten fighters will step into the Octagon together for the UFC lightweight title in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
And McGregor, competing in his first MMA bout for 23 months, believes he will make mincemeat of his Russian opponent after admitting he fell out of love with the sport after Dana White took away his two belts.
McGregor told : “I think I’m going to turn him into a bobblehead if I’m honest. It’s personal but it’s the same, it’s always a little personal.
“In there it’s a blank face and a new body. I see him turning into a bobblehead when I hit him. I feel his brain is going to rattle when he takes a clatter off me.
“That’s what I’m keeping in my head, but I’m a veteran now. I will be prepared for five rounds, I’ll be prepared for any scenario. I’m well trained, I’ve put in the work and we are confident going in, no matter where it goes.
“I fell out of love with the game for a bit, went off on to my own thing. I had many things going on. Now I’m back, I’m hungry to compete. And we’re here right on the cusp of it. Making weight, handling the media obligations. And that’s it.
“I spent my entire life’s work to win those two world titles. Those two UFC world titles, I set out a goal, I put everything, absolutely everything, sacrificed so much times, sacrificed so much to gain those world titles.
“And then as soon as I win the second world title, I wasn’t even offered a featherweight contest and the featherweight title was taken off of me and handed back to a man that I had a crazy history with.
“I travelled the world with a two year build up. He ended up pulling out last minute. Blah blah blah, when I end the fight, I knock him out in 13 seconds.
“And then they give the belt back as soon as I walk out the Octagon in Madison Square Garden. And then like, what, about a month or two, the lightweight belt is stripped form me also.
“So these kinds of things irritate me. Especially seeing what way it goes, who the belts are given to, who the people are that are challenging the belts. Who the person who has the belt is facing to get the belt.
“Many things irritate me in the game, and just watching it unfold, I just became more hungry to come back and show who the real king is.
“I’m certainly itching for a fight. It’s good to be back.”
