Ryder Cup WAGs pose in sunglasses and matching outfits for lavish opening ceremony at Le Golf National
RYDER Cup WAGs stunned in matching outfits and sunglasses as they arrived for the lavish opening ceremony.
The dolled up ladies have travelled to France to cheer on their partners at the 42nd edition of the competition at Le Golf National.
Grace Barber arrived to watch boyfriend and Europe skipper Thomas Bjorn introduce his team during the ceremony.
Pairings will then be announced before the action commences on Friday morning at 7.10am.
Vice-captain Lee Westwood took the chance to pose for a snap with partner and caddie Helen Storey.
Among the European team WAGs are Justin Rose's wife Kate, Tommy Fleetwood's partner Clare Craig and Paul Casey's stunning other half Pollyanna Woodward.
They were all spotted wearing yellow ribbons in honour of tragic Spanish golfer Celia Barquin Arozamena.
Players are also expected to pay tribute to the European amateur champion after she was found dead on a US golf course last week at the age of 22.
The US WAGs arrived, including Tiger Woods' partner Erica Herman, wearing a more subtle black outfit.
Erica was alongside the 42-year-old American when he completed one of the greatest sporting comebacks ever to win the Tour Championship on Monday.
Why are the WAGs wearing yellow ribbons?
- Fans can expect to see players and fans wearing the yellow ribbon at the Ryder Cup this weekend.
- They will be used to as a tribute to the late Spanish female golfer Celia Barquin Arozamena.
- The European amateur champion was found dead on a US golf course last week at the age of 22.
- Europe captain Thomas Bjorn said of the gesture: "The golfing family extends way beyond what we are trying to do this week.
- "Those events in America with Celia being killed playing golf is something that's hit everybody in the golf family, and obviously our two Spanish players very much.
- "We felt like that after a conversation from Ryder Cup Europe with Celia's mother, that we would honour her this week."
Both sets of supporters crazily waved flags as they watched Kaiser Chiefs perform to kick-off the ceremony.
A remarkable air show took place above the fans, who had bundled in to get a glimpse of their favourite stars.
As both team's were introduced at Le Golf National, Patrick Reed was booed as his name was read out by the USA captain Jim Furyk.
Team Europe's and Team USA's stunning WAGS were also out in force on Wednesday night in France when they flocked to the Palace of Versailles for a gala dinner.
The pairings were announced at the opening ceremony, which has set up a huge match between Reed and Woods against Francesco Molinari and Fleetwood.
Paul Casey and Tyrrell Hatton will take on Thomas and Jordan Spieth after Rory McIlroy and Thorbjorn Olesen face Dustin Johnson and Rickie Fowler.
Friday's action will begin at 7:10am when Rose and Rahm look to make winning start against Brooks Koepka and Tony Finau.
