REISS NELSON has joined Hoffenheim on loan after he penned a new long-term contract with Arsenal.
The 18-year-old, who joined the Gunners in 2007, will wear the No9 shirt for the German side this season.
SunSport exclusively reported earlier this month that the English winger was going to renew his deal in North London after an impressive pre-season campaign.
The Gunners have now shipped the youngster out on loan to enhance his development with regular first-team football.
Nelson, who played 16 games for the senior squad last season, made his Premier League debut in January.
Speaking about the switch, boss Unai Emery told : "Reiss is a talented young player and we're pleased that he has signed a new contract.
"This move to Hoffenheim will give him the chance to get regular high-level competition in the Bundesliga and is an important step in his development."
After he signed his new Arsenal contract, Nelson said: "It's my boyhood club.
"From a young age, from about eight years old, I've been supporting the club.
"The likes of Thierry Henry have encouraged me as well, so ever since then I've just loved the club and really fell in love with it."
Nelson was named Premier League 2 Player of the Year last year after an impressive spell for the Under-23 squad.
The England youth star has been part of the club's set-up since he joined their academy at the age of nine.
