Former Salford owner says overseas clubs bring nothing to rugby league, drawing classic response from French side

SHOTS have been fired between Catalans Dragons and Marwan Koukash ahead of their appearance at the Challenge Cup final.

The French side will step out at Wembley on Saturday for the first time in 11 years when it faces Warrington.

But fears over a poor attendance, with about 50,000 set to watch, sparked an outburst from former Salford owner Koukash – and a classic response from the Dragons.

“The Challenge Cup on Saturday will show that overseas club bring nothing to our RL game,” he wrote.

“Money is better invested in the lower divisions instead on clubs that are in France.”

However, Catalans came up with the perfect response to Koukash, who later admitted he was, ‘enjoying his wine.’

They simply posted a film of a woman hiding underneath an office desk drinking from the bottle!

About 5,000 fans are expected to travel from France – by plane, train and automobile – for the Wembley showpiece.

That is despite all kinds of problems in finding flights from the south of France in peak holiday season.
