WWE legend Kane, real name Glenn Jacobs, becomes mayor of Knox County, Tennessee after landslide election victory
Three-time world champion beat Democrat candidate Linda Haney to win the top political office in the county
WWE legend Kane has been elected the new mayor of Knox County, Tennesse.
The wrestling icon, real name Glenn Jacobs, took home 66 per cent of the vote to defeat fellow candidate Democrat Linda Haney.
His victory was confirmed in the early hours of this morning as the Big Red Machine prepares to take office.
Kane’s campaign has been focused on reducing taxes, providing new jobs within the local area and providing a renewed focus on the quality of education.
He told WATE 6: “In my primary, I only won by 23 votes in that one, so every vote really does count and I want to make sure I get as many as I possibly can.
“Since May, we’ve been knocking on doors, continuing that.
“We’ve also continued the process of meeting with department heads, school board, county commissioners, that kind of thing.”
The three-time world champion, who called on the services of friend and fellow WWE icon The Undertaker, announced he would be running for mayor in March 2017.

Since then he has only appeared sporadically on WWE and returned last month to reunite with former tag partner Daniel Bryan.
But the duo, named Team Hell No, failed to fight together as Kane suffered a storyline broken ankle at the hands of tag-team champions Harper and Rowan at Extreme Rules before their scheduled bout.
