When did Gareth Bale get engaged to Emma Rhys-Jones?

Gareth Bale, 29, proposed to his childhood sweetheart Emma Rhys-Jones, 29, in July 2016.

He announced the news on social media writing: "She said yes!! This is a birthday weekend I won't forget for a long time. Celebrated with all our closest family and friends."

The couple were set to marry in summer 2018 in the Vincigliata castle in Tuscany, Italy - but have postponed it until summer 2019.

This is the same location where Gareth's former Southampton teammate, Theo Walcott, got married in 2014.

Why has Gareth Bale and Emma Rhys-Jones' wedding been postponed?

Gareth Bale and Emma Rhys-Jones have put their wedding on hold amid a rift with Emma's family.

The couple previously postponed their wedding until Emma's father Martin, 54, could be released from prison.

He was sentenced to six years for a £2.6million shares scam but was released early - however Emma banned him from the wedding after he moved in with a woman half his age. 

Emma also barred her cousin Epiphany Dring, 28, after she fled abroad when a bag of drugs and cash vanished from their grandparent's house.

She also black-listed her aunt Jane Burns, 55, along with her current husband Daniel, 41, and ex Carl Dring, 50 – Epiphany’s Dad.

A source said: “There’s so much family turmoil right now — they want things to settle down before tying the knot. They are still very much in love but they’ve had a lot of issues to deal with.”

Do Gareth Bale and Emma Rhys-Jones have any children?

Gareth and Emma have three children - two daughters and a son.

Their first child Alba Violet was born at the University Hospital of Wales on October 21, 2012.

Their second daughter, Nava Valentina arrived on March 22, 2016.

The couple's son Axel was born on May 8, 2018.
