Cristiano Ronaldo move to Juventus causes shock around footballing world as Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos leads tributes

CRISTIANO RONALDO'S nearest and dearest paid tribute to him after he joined Juventus for £88million.

Sergio Ramos and Gareth Bale were among the stars that showed their support after he ended his nine year spell with Real Madrid.

Fans and footballers from around the world were left speechless after the mega-money switch was confirmed on Tuesday.

But once the dust had settled, a number of his former team-mates decided to wish him well on his next adventure.

Ramos tweeted: "@cristiano, your goals, your numbers and everything we've won together speak for themselves.

"You have earned a special place in the history of @RealMadrid. As Madrisistas we'll remember you always.

"It's been a pleasure to play alongside you, bicho. Big hug and good luck."

Gareth Bale posted a heartfelt message with his 17.2million Twitters followers after the transfer was announced.

Alongside a photograph of the pair together, Bale said: "An incredibly player and a top guy!

"It has been a pleasure to play alongside you for the last 5 years. Good luck for the future my friend.

Real Madrid team-mate Sami Khedira also took the chance to wish Ronaldo on Twitter.

He said: "We had a great time together in Madrid, I can't wait to get back to work with you! Today is a special day for @juventusfc"

Toni Kroos added: "Crucial for the trophies we won in the past years! A true champion.

"It was a pleasure playing with you! All the best, legend."

Los Blancos star Asensio said: "It has been a pleasure to play by your side, you have been an example in every way. I wish you good luck in your new stage."

Karim Benzema used Instagram to share his message, where he labelled him as "the best soccer player in the world".

Brazil legend Pele even took the chance to congratulate Ronaldo on his switch to the Serie A.

He said: "Congratulations @cristiano. It was hard to join another after so long at Santos but it was the right move. Champions never tire of new challenges."

Ronaldo leaves Real Madrid as the top scorer in history, with 451 goals in 438 games.
