Wimbledon 2018: Serena Williams still last American lady standing after defeating Russia’s Evgeniya Rodina on Centre Court in the battle of the mums to reach the last eight
The seven-times Wimbledon winner is well on course for her eighth title and will face Italy's Camila Giorgi in the next round at SW19
SERENA WILLIAMS won the battle of the mums on Centre Court to reach the last eight of Wimbledon.
The seven-times winner is well on course for her eighth title and will face Camila Giorgi in the next round at SW19.
And the American great hardly broke a sweat as she beat fellow mum Evgeniya Rodina from Russia in straight sets 6-2 6-2.
Williams said: "I knew we were both mums and I am not sure if that happens much. It's cool, you can be a working mum and be in the quarter-final of Wimbledon.
"I am a perfectionist and I will always find something wrong, it was a good scoreline, but tougher than that."
Even when Rodina got a break in the second set at 3-2, Williams junior just pulled out even more winners to wrestle back control in another amazing match.
