When is Wimbledon 2018?
The men’s and women’s tournaments begin on Monday, July 2, with the doubles starting on Wednesday, July 4 and mixed doubles beginning on Thursday, July 5.
The juniors, wheelchair and invitational matches get going on Saturday, July 7. There is no play on Sunday, July 8.
Can I still buy a ticket given that most of them were distributed via the ballot a few months ago?
Yes. Wimbledon remains one of the very few major UK sporting events where you can still buy premium tickets on the day of play.
Tickets are sold strictly on the basis of one per person standing in the famous Wimbledon queue that wraps itself around the golf course opposite the All England club.
You will be issued with a Queue Card which is non-transferable, and later wrist bans whose numbers correspond to the number of Show Court tickets available.
A limited number of tickets are available daily for Centre Court, No.1 Court and No.2 Court, except for the last four days on Centre Court, when all are sold in advance.
In addition, several thousand Grounds Passes are available each day at the turnstiles entitling use of unreserved seating and standing room on Courts No.3 - 18.
How about disabled visitors with mobility impairments?
There are facilities for mobility-impaired visitors to wait nearer the grounds. Entry will be in The Queue Card number order. Please ask any Steward for further assistance.
Disabled visitors with mobility impairments who intend to buy tickets on the day of play are advised to telephone the Ticket Office on 0208 971 2473 for further details on queuing and car parking arrangements.
Dan Evans has been denied a wildcard and must pre-qualify
Who are big names on show?
Federer, Novak Djokovic and recent French Open winner, Rafael Nadal top the men's roster.
Former champion Serena Williams is one of the bookmakers' favourites to win the women's title.
But the American faces strong competition from Petra Kvitova, Garbine Muguruza and Simona Halep.
Tell me about the British wildcards
Dan Evans has been overlooked following a 12-month ban for a positive test for cocaine.
But eight Brits have been awarded wild cards into the main draw with a further ten given places in qualifying.
Jay Clarke, 19, will make his debut in the championships and is joined in the men's draw by Liam Broady.
A good year for British omen is reflected by the fact that Gabi Taylor, Harriet Dart and Katy Dunne make their debuts in the main ladies' draw.
They are joined by Naomi Broady, Katie Boulter and Katie Swan.
What has happened to Laura Robson?
The injury-plagued former junior champion is now down to 330 in the rankings.
Like Evans, Robson - who admitted she would probably decline a wild card had she been offered one - will also have to go through qualifying if she wants to make the singles draw.
Any notable wild cards handed out by the All England club committee?
Yes. The 2002 Wimbledon champion Lleyton Hewitt has also been handed one along with compatriot Alex Bolt.
Which TV channel will Wimbledon be shown on?
Wimbledon 2018 will be screened by the BBC with a team presenting live matches during the day on BBC One and BBC Two.
An evening round-up, Today at Wimbledon, will be hosted by Clare Balding on BBC Two.
Footage is also expected to be made available on the red button and via a live stream on the BBC website.
Anything different about the TV coverage this year?
Cameras that capture all the action will be taken in-house, with the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club choosing the footage to be shown on our TV screens for the first time, not the BBC.
