Amir Khan reveals how Anthony Joshua inspired him to get back in the ring as he makes weight ahead of Phil Lo Greco bout
AMIR KHAN weighed in slightly heavier than opponent Phil Lo Greco ahead of his eagerly-anticipated comeback bout on Saturday night.
The 31-year-old welterweight tipped the scales at 10st 10lbs, while the Canadian came in just under at 10 st 9lbs 5oz.
Khan also revealed how reigning WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua inspired him to return to boxing after nearly two years out.
The 2004 Olympic silver medallist hasn't fought since suffering a brutal sixth round knockout at the hands of the now banned Saul Alvarez in May 2016.
Speaking ahead of his clash at the Echo Arena, he said: "You look at these great fighters like Joshua cleaning up, doing really well, knocking guys out, selling out stadiums and I’m like, ‘Wow, this is where I want to be again’.
"I’ve done it in the past and I want to do it again. I know I’ve got a style where the crowd will come and watch me and want to see me.
"Fighters like Joshua out there give you that inspiration to come out and do well and sell out stadiums again. Boxing’s on a high. What Eddie’s doing, this is what we needed."
It's Khan's first time fighting at welterweight since outpointing Chris Algieri at the Barclays Center in May 2015.

The former two-time world champion hasn't recorded a stoppage victory since 2012 - where he ended Carlos Molina's unbeaten streak.
A fight against rival Kell Brook will undoubtedly be talked about should Khan beat Lo Greco, while he could also target Keith Thurman, Errol Spence Jr, or attempt to avenge his loss against Danny Garcia.
