Bangladesh’s dramatic win over Sri Lanka marred by smashed glass door and player clashes
Nidahas Trophy was arranged to celebrate 70 years of Sri Lankan independence but was not a peaceful game
BANGLADESH’S win over Sri Lanka in the Nidahas Trophy was marred by ugly confrontations and a smashed dressing room glass door.
Sri Lanka hosted the tournament to celebrate 70 years of independence but there was anything but peace in Colombo on Friday.
Umpire Chris Broad has seen footage of the incident and spoken to stadium staff in an attempt to find the person who smashed the door.
But Broad is well aware he could fed falsehoods from home fans who had had to suffered their side losing by two wickets.
The off-pitch fracas could have been predicted after the aggressive nature of match.
There were ugly confrontations between a Bangladesh sub and Sri Lanka player and Bangladesh’s Nurul Hasan was seen clashing with Thisara Perera.
Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan was also raging with something that was said or done on the field as he remonstrated with reserve umpire Lyndon Hannibal.
Al Hasan said after the game: “I don't want to talk about it, but what happened was that the square-leg umpire called a no-ball and after a discussion they cancelled it.

"I didn't think it was the right decision. I don't know what happened after the first ball, which was a bouncer.
“But after the second ball, the umpire called a no-ball. We are all human, we should take it in the chin and move forward.
"Many things happened that shouldn't have happened. I need to remain calm. I was overjoyed. Excitement was there. I must know how to react next time. I will be careful.

“To be honest, we are all good friends.
"We see each other in the Bangladesh Premier League and Dhaka Premier League.
“The two boards have great relations. We help each other a lot. Just like I would want my team to win at all cost, they would have the same feeling.
“I am sure that both teams will never let it go off the field."
