Mauricio Pochettino will snub Real Madrid to stay at Tottenham, believes Christian Eriksen
La Liga outfit want the Spurs chief to replace Zinedine Zidane at the Bernabeu at some point in the future
CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN believes Mauricio Pochettino will snub Real Madrid to stay at Spurs.
But Spurs star Eriksen, 26, has no fears over his manager’s future with the North Londoners.
The Dane said: “No, like I said before, the players are happy with him and the club is very happy with him. Of course, it’s his decision but I think what’s he’s building here he would like to be part of it.
“I think that’s what he showed when he signed his new deal, a long-term deal.
“Of course there will be interest from other clubs because he’s doing really well but hopefully he’ll stay."
Eriksen equalised with a 71st-minute free-kick as Tottenham came back from going 2-0 down in the first nine minutes to draw 2-2 at Juventus in their Champions League last-16 first-leg in Turin on Tuesday night.
He added: “I think you can say it was a very bad start. Being 2-0 down after nine minutes there’s only one way and that’s trying to come back and luckily we did that.
KANE ON THE UP Tottenham star Harry Kane topping Real Madrid’s £535m summer wish list to start new Galacticos
“After it was 2-0 they dropped a bit. They did start very offensively and then they dropped a bit which gave us a bit more of the ball so we tried to create something afterwards. It helped us actually but not in a good way.
“Of course it shows a lot of character. All the types we have in our team are players who like to go forward, try to create something.
“Either way, winning or losing we try to play the same way and luckily we could turn it around.”
Gonzalo Higuain gave Juve a quickfire 2-0 lead with a volley and a penalty.
Harry Kane pulled one back for Tottenham in the 35th minute before Higuain hit another spot-kick against the bar with the very last kick of the first-half.
Eriksen admitted: “I think the most important time of the game was the missed penalty which gave us a lot of belief and confidence going into the second half that we could get something and luckily we did.”
