‘Stubborn’ Ademola Lookman joined RB Leipzig on loan against Everton’s wishes, reveals Sam Allardyce
ADEMOLA LOOKMAN was adamant he wanted to go to RB Leipzig despite Everton boss Sam Allardyce advising otherwise.
The Toffees manager said the loan move would be a "big challenge", but Lookman's "stubbornness" ensured the deal prevailed.
Lookman will stay at Leipzig until the end of the season on a short-term loan deal at the Red Bull Arena.
Allardyce said: "It is one of the most unusual situations I've been in.
"We got some deals for him but he was adamant he chose Germany.
"His stubbornness meant he got his own way. I hope he proves us all wrong."
The 20-year-old striker has struggled to break into the Everton starting XI since joining from Charlton for £11million in January 2018.
Lookman has appeared at U19, U20 and U21 level for home nation England, impressing in an exciting Young Lions team.
He will be joining another young side at Leipzig, with the attacking talent of Naby Keita, Timo Werner and Yussuf Poulsen.
Ralph Hasenhuttl's side haven't been able to replicate the stellar form they showed last season when they challenged Bayern Munich for the league title - sitting in 5th place in the Bundesliga.
