THIS is the shuddering moment NBA star Kris Dunn loses part of a tooth after face-planting the floor.
The Chicago Bulls guard leaps to dunk the ball but holds onto the rim of the net for too long and knocks himself off balance.
Dunn swings to an almost horizontal angle and fails to protect his face as he crashes towards the ground.
A sickening slow motion replay shows the awful moment his mouth slams into the floor.
Dunn immediately checks for damage and finds his lip is bleeding while part of his tooth can be seen on the deck beneath him.
Team-mates and staff help take the shaken 23-year-old off the court during the defeat to the Golden State Warriors.
Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg said: "He didn't lose teeth. There was a good little chunk that he took out of the floor.
"He's being evaluated. Tough kid."
The club released the following statement: "Chicago Bulls guard Kris Dunn chipped and dislocated two front teeth when he fell with 2:52 left in the fourth quarter in tonight’s game against the Golden State Warriors.
"He was also evaluated for potential concussion and at this time is clear of concussion symptoms.
"He will be re-evaluated tomorrow at which time we will provide an update."
Dunn is in his second season with the Bulls and is averaging 13.6 points, 6.4 assists and 4.6 rebounds in roughly 30 minutes per game.
Warriors won the game 119-112 thanks to a late flurry in the third quarter.
Golden State coach Steve Kerr said: "It wasn’t our finest hour. But we had our moments in the third quarter."
