Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs appointed new Wales boss as first managerial job
The 44-year-old has been called in to replace Chris Coleman, who left to join Sunderland in November
RYAN GIGGS has signed a four-year contract as the new manager of Wales.
The Manchester United legend has replaced Chris Coleman ahead of the Nations League draw in Lausanne.
After his official appointment on Monday, Giggs said: "I am so proud to have been given the honour of managing the national team.
"The challenges we have ahead with the Nations League and qualification for Euro 2020 excite me a great deal.
"I can't wait to start working with the players as we prepare for those crucial games later in the year."
The national side announced the news by posting a video to their official Twitter page.
Giggs was one of four candidates interviewed by the Football Association of Wales on Thursday.
He landed the position ahead of former Wales ace Craig Bellamy, Coleman's previous assistant Osian Roberts and former Spurs left-back Mark Bowen.

Coleman left in November to join Sunderland after the national side failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Following Cookie's departure, the FAW wanted their new manager in place ahead of the Nations League draw on January 24.
The Premier League veteran was an interim manager for Manchester United following the dismissal of David Moyes.
But this spell only lasted four games, before he was demoted to Louis van Gaal's assistant.
After two seasons in that position, the Welshman left after Jose Mourinho was appointed as Manchester United boss in 2016.
