The exact cause of Leavy's inury remains unclear - successive reports on the game failed to even mention it.

Photographs taken before the game shows Leavy was carrying a cut in the same region around his right eye.

But things obviously went from bad to worse after his introduction to this game.

l was looking even more battered and bruised.

by crossing the whitewash and then Matawalu showed impressive athleticism to touch down near the flag and reduce his side's arrears to 31 points.
