Quique Sanchez Flores confirms he will be staying at Espanyol despite Stoke interest
The ex-Watford boss revealed during a press conference that he will be staying with the La Liga side
QUIQUE SANCHEZ FLORES confirmed he will reject a move to Stoke in order to stay with Espanyol.
The 52-year-old has been strongly linked with the Potters following the dismissal of Mark Hughes.
The ex-Watford boss is set to stay with the La Liga side, despite the Premier League side's confidence of signing the deal.
During a press conference on Saturday, Flores said: "I am and I will be the coach of Espanyol.
"The fact is that I am here.
"Yesterday afternoon I was in the movies watching a movie by Woody Allen with my partner."
Stoke confirmed that a delegation flew out to Spain to discuss the deal with Flores on Wednesday.
And he was offered the job to fill the void left by Hughes, who was sacked following a shambolic start to the season.
Flores added: "These are situations that happen and they can not be avoided.
"It happened three weeks ago with Gerard Moreno, but we have to think that we are happy with Espanyol.
"We like how they treat us, what we generate in the stadium and that Espanyol will grow.
"I live in a big city, in one of the best leagues, and I have reason to be happy and not to live worried."
