WWE news: The legend Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson to receive Hollywood Walk of Fame star
The Great One, a multiple-time world champion, is being recognised for his work on the silverscreen
WWE legend and star of the silverscreen The Rock is receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The 45-year-old, real name Dwayne Johnson, will be honoured with a ceremony next Wednesday in the motion pictures category due to status as a global box office powerhouse.
Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies, said: “Not only does have a great personality and talent, but he also does a great amount of philanthropic work which is part of the criteria for earning an immortal spot on the Walk of Fame.
“We envision scores of photos being taken at his star by his fans.”
is a third generation wrestler and shot to stardom in the WWE during the mid-90s.
The Great One became one of the biggest names in the business, winning "millions and millions" of fans, as he won the world title on numerous occasions before departing in 2004 for Hollywood.
He has gone on to star in numerous films, with Baywatch and The Fate of the Furious two of his latest as well as the comedy Central Intelligence with Kevin Hart in 2016.
In addition to his work in front of the cameras, The Rock has also made several impressive returns to the ring in recent years.

After a seven-year absence from their live shows, he appeared on Monday Night Raw in February 2011 to start a feud with John Cena.
He defeated the Leader of the Cenation at WrestleMania XXVIII and went on to win the WWE title for the first time in a decade.

However, in a dramatic WrestleMania rematch with Cena a year later, he lost the belt and has not held it since.
His last appearance in the ring came at WrestleMania 32 as he defeated then Wyatt Family member Erick Rowan in just six seconds.

Some of Rock's other movie credits include roles in Furious 7, Hercules, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Fast and Furious 6, and Fast 5.
His earlier work upon leaving WWE includes Race to Witch Mountain, Get Smart, The Game Plan, and The Mummy Returns.
He is also the founder The Rock Foundation charity which works with terminally ill children.
