Ashes 2017: Five moments from day two as Shaun Marsh crashes superb hundred before Aussie quicks get stuck in under the lights
Joe Root's side in big trouble after Marsh's brilliant century led Australia to 442-8dec in Adelaide
AUSTRALIA put themselves in pole position to go 2-0 up in the Ashes series after dominating day two in Adelaide.
A brilliant century from Shaun Marsh took the hosts to 442-8dec, before their fast bowlers got stuck in under the lights and dismissed Mark Stoneman - leaving England 29-1 at stumps.
Here are five key moments of the day from Down Under.
The perfect start
ENGLAND needed early wickets - and Stuart Broad delivered.
He was like a man possessed in the early overs and got his reward just three balls into the day, trapping Peter Handscomb LBW.
The Aussies thought about reviewing, but they don't come much plumber than this.
DRS Deja vu
JIMMY ANDERSON was similarly impressive in the morning session but England struggled to take wickets in quick succession.
But they had the finger raised again not once, but twice, as the Burnley Lara ripped through eventual centurion Shuan Marsh and Tim Paine with some trademark booming inswingers.
Yet both were overturned on DRS reviews for bouncing just over the stumps, much to the shock of Root's side.
It summed up England's luck in the field.
Ton up for Marsh
SHAUN MARSH is on his seventh recall to the Australian Test side - but you'd never have known it with the way he dismantled the England attack here.
His innings was one of patience, technique and the odd bit of luck thrown in.
The Adelaide Oval went bonkers as he brought up his century with a magnificent pull behind square.
Calamity Cook
IF one bit of fielding could sum up a day's cricket - it's this one.
Moments after making his hundred, Woakes surprised Marsh with a bumper, with the ball looping kindly to the slips.
James Vince sensed his big moment, bounding over with eyes only for the ball - and taking out Alastair Cook in the process.
Stone dead straight
ENGLAND were sent out under the lights by the Aussies - and Mitchell Starc was chucking down rockets.
He hit 93.5mph in a terrifying spell of fast bowling which Mark Stoneman and Alastair Cook bravely dealt with for seven overs.
But eventually he got through the defences, crashing into Stoneman's pads and after a review, sending the England opener back into the hutch.
