And now the heavyweight boxer has shared a video of himself in the gym showing just how limited his exercise routine is following the surgery.

He said: “So it’s been eight days since my operation, of my left bicep and rehabilitation faze is well underway.

“All very steady, all very slow, all very boring, all very monotonous, but it has to be done this way to get the one hundred percent results that I require.

“So this is the type of stuff as exciting as this I’ll have to do over the next few weeks, all over Christmas,” Haye said showing a very minimalist exercise.

David Haye trains with arm in a sling as he vows to be back in 2018

Haye has banished the bandages and sling he was videoed training in on Wednesday as he vowed to be back "firing on all cylinders" after his latest injury setback.

The Londoner will now ramp up his rehab before the new year with the rematch originally set for December 17 at the O2 arena looking to be rescheduled to either March or May.

His opponent, Bellew, however isn't confident the clash will actually happen and questioned whether the 37-year-old can be trusted having pulled out of a number of fights before.
