Who won SPOTY? Sir Mo Farah crowned the winner in 40/1 BBC Sports Personality 2017 shock triumph
SIR MO FARAH won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award for the first time.
He did not attend the show, and was shown in a live video feed - which cut out before he could make his winning speech - from London.
The distance runner - who retired from the track this year - had a previous best of third place in 2011.

Mo Farah secured top place in the public vote, with Superbike ace Jonathan Rea second and Paralympian Jonnie Peacock third.

Why was Mo Farah not at BBC SPOTY tonight?
Sir Mo was not in Liverpool for a very specific reason.
He was looking after his children - twins Aisha and Amani - born shortly after his twin triumph at London 2012, Hussein - born in 2015, plus step-daughter Rihanna.
Farah said before the event: “My family and I are in the middle of moving back to the UK right now and I’m looking after all four of the kids this weekend while my wife Tania is back in the US packing up the last of our stuff.

"Our girls have just started their new school in London, so we’re staying close to home to help them all settle into their new life.
“I [and possibly the kids] will be on a live link-up from London, so we’ll definitely still be a part of the show.”
