Ana Ivanovic announces she is pregnant with her and former Manchester United star Bastian Schweinsteiger’s first baby

Tennis ace posted image of baby shoes on social media and 'couldn't be more happy'

TENNIS ace Ana Ivanovic has announced she is pregnant with her and Bastian Schweinsteiger's first child.

The retired star, who won the French Open in 2008, posted an image of baby trainers to social media.

She wrote: "A little extension to our family.

"Couldn’t be more happy!"

Schweinsteiger later posted on his Twitter page: "We are expecting a new family member and are so grateful!"

Ivanovic and former the Manchester United midfielder currently live in the US, with Schweinsteiger starring for the Chicago Fire of Major League Soccer.

The image showed three pairs of identical white Adidas Yeezy trainers - both athletes are sponsored by the German sportswear giant.

Schweinsteiger, 33, and Ivanovic, who turned 30 earlier this month, married in Venice, Italy, in July 2016.

The former Bayern Munich star, winner of eight German league titles, the Champions League and the 2014 World Cup, only has a contract with the Chicago Fire until March 2018.

The club are keen to keep him in Chicago for another year.

General Manager Nelson Rodriguez said: ""We remain optimistic that Basti and we will reach a mutually satisfactory agreement and that he will return.

"I won't put a timeline on it. I think Basti has proven his importance to our club and to our team and that remains a priority to bring him back."
