Conor Benn smashes Brandon Sanudo with second-round stoppage on his US debut

British welterweight introduces himself to fight fans in the States in stunning style as he stops the Mexican with a fierce left hook to the body

CONOR BENN enjoyed an impressive American debut as a second round body shot to Mexican Brandon Sanudo took his unbeaten record to 10-0.

The Brit welterweight, 21, came out strong from the opening bell and rocked Sanudo with an accurate jab to immediately take control of the first round.

The second saw chase down his opponent and back him into the corner before landing a devastating left hook to the body, sending Sanudo to the canvas at the Nassau Coliseum, in Long Island, New York.

Conor's father, , had 24 fights before making his US debut.

However, has shown what great progress he has made fighting in the States just 18 months after turning pro.

He told Sky Sports: "I really enjoyed it and got some reception here so it's just a great experience so early in my career.

"To hit America and England is something special. It's really different.

"Here the way they do things is completely different and it will take a while to get used to it, but it is early doors and when it comes to the time to fight here - potentially for titles - I will know what I'm in for.

"Fighting in New York is character building and I’ve learnt a lot from it."

Conor revealed his father, the world former middleweight champion, called him before his fight and told him to, "go out there and do what you’ve got to do".

Benn added: "When I speak to my dad it brings nothing but confidence, you know he’s done it - he’s conquered it and I plan on doing the same thing."

Promoter Eddie Hearn his delighted with his youngster's progress and he believes his latest victory is proof of how fast Benn is maturing.

He said: "It was a bit nerve-racking I was nervous for him.

"Different environment, different kind of crowd, a really good performance, a composed performance - a mature performance from a young man who seems to be maturing very fast.

"Beautiful body punching, good variety - he took his time, he didn’t rush his work, a really really good performance.

"That's 10 and 0 know for Conor Benn coming along at a lovely pace."
