Usain Bolt says ‘a lot’ of football clubs have got in touch about signing him in 2018

USAIN BOLT has said his life motto is "anything is possible" and he looks to be heeding his own advice and attempting to make his first foray into football.

While recovering from a hamstring injury, that ruined his swansong, the greatest sprinter of all time has cited 2018 as the year that he'll attempt to break into the beautiful game.

Bolt took time to acknowledge what it took to be the top of the game, speaking from his own experiences in track and field, and said sacrificing parties and hanging out with friends were par for the course.

If the 31-year-old is to swap his running spikes for football boots he may have to curtail his partying lifestyle that he has enjoyed since closing the door on his amazing athletics career.

In an interview with , Bolt said: "I would love to play football now I've retired from track and field. I've been talking about it in interviews and a lot of clubs have reached out."

Earlier this yer, SunSport told you how Championship side Burton Albion offered the sprinter a trial and he looks to be weighing up options for when he is fully fit.

The eight-time Olympic gold medallist would certainly add pace to any team that would bring him on board.

Something that British track and field star Adam Gemili knows all too well, having dabbled in football prior to choosing to focus solely on his running career.

The 100m Team GB star played for national league side Dagenham and Redbridge which is the sort of level Bolt may need to cut his teeth in.

But the Jamaican has already admitted that he would love to play for Zinedine Zidane. 

Perhaps he will look to a London-based team as he has frequently shared his love for the city, he said: "I've been coming to London every year for the past 15 years. It's become like my second home as I normally base myself in the city during the track and field season.

"There are a lot of Jamaicans living in London and I always get great support when I race there."

Bolt claimed his coaches in Jamaica discouraged him from playing in football while he was competing in athletics, but his agent revealed earlier this year that he had been allowed to train with German giants Borussia Dortmund once he had hung up his running shoes.

The Jamaican legend has spent time watching his beloved Manchester United so far this season and will hope to be seen on a football pitch rather than in the stands next year.

The greatest sprinter of all time is already due to feature on popular video game Pro Evolution Soccer where he is awarded the maximum score of 99 for speed and explosive power.

It now remains to be seen if he can turn this into reality.
