EU HAVE NO CHANCE

WBA super middleweight champion George Groves insists Chris Eubank Jr has no chance of beating him in World Boxing Super Series

The 29-year-old wiped out Jamie Cox at the SSE Arena to set up a semi-final clash with the Brighton boxer in the semi-final in 2018

GEORGE GROVES has claimed that Chris Eubank Jr doesn't stand a chance when the pair meet in the World Boxing Super Series semi-final.

The 29-year-old - who knocked out Jamie Cox in the fourth round at the SSE Arena on Saturday night - has insisted he is better in every department compared to the Brighton boxer.

Speaking in his post-fight press conference. Groves said of the 28-year-old: "The Eubank Jr fight is one I've been looking forward to for quite a while.

"It's a fight that I'm very excited about, he's improved over the years, but he hasn't boxed anyone on my level.

"If I box like I did (against Cox), he doesn't stand a chance. I boxed tremendously."

A body shot proved to be the difference against the Swindon southpaw at Wembley, with the 31-year-old unable to beat the count.

The WBA super middleweight champion faces the IBO champ in January/February, with Stamford Bridge Groves' preferred destination.

Eubank claimed recently that he bossed 90 per cent of the rounds they had in sparring, a suggestion completely rebuffed by trainer Shane McGuigan.

Groves told reporters how he doesn't fear the threat of 'Next Gen,' he added: "I'm quicker than Chris Eubank Jr.

"My hand speed is quick, I'm taller and I'm stronger.

"He's going to have to make an awful lot of changes in the build-up to this fight if he wants to beat men.

"There's a lot of super middleweights in the competition - Eubank isn't one of them."

But he will be up against one of the most fearsome punchers in the division, with Eubank Jr having won 20 of his 26 fights by KO, losing just the once.

While Groves - who boasts a record of 27-3 - has dispatched 20 of his opponents before the final bell.
