GEORGE GROVES set up a mouth-watering match-up against Chris Eubank Jr after dispatching Jamie Cox in the fourth round.
The WBA super middleweight champion made a successful first defence of his belt as he delivered brutal body shot on his opponent.
He advances through to the World Boxing Super Series semi-final, but was made to work by his former GB room-mate.
It was Cox who started the brighter at Wembley’s SSE Arena, enjoying some success in the opening round with some nice combinations.
And he carried on that momentum into the second, trapping the 29-year-old in the corner – offloading a barrage of punches – as he looked to prove he belongs on the world stage, but it was Groves who finished the stronger before the bell.
He began to settle behind his jab in the third, as Cox began recklessly swinging in the hope of causing a surprise upset.
There were times that looked like Groves was in real danger, and he even looked on tired legs at the end of the third.
But as the Chelsea fan predicted in the build-up to the world title clash, he simply proved a class above the 31-year-old.
With a huge brawl breaking out in the upper stands, the distraction failed to get the better of ‘Saint George’ as he showed his immense power.
