Defending champion Tyrrell Hatton reunited with actor Jamie Dornan after the pair teamed up last year when the Englishman won his first European Tour title.

Hatton will look to become the first player to win the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in successive years.

Hoping to stop him is Rory McIlroy who returns to the championship after a two-year hiatus alongside his dad, Gerry, who is celebrating his birthday on the opening day of the tournament.

The Northern Irishman has struggled this year while battling a rib injury and will need a win this week to avoid his first winless season in four years.
