John Cena insists he will never fully retire from WWE after his No Mercy ‘exit’

Cenation leader adamant defeat to Roman Reigns will not be his last match as 16-time world champ says he will never leave WWE 'they're family' to him

JOHN CENA insists WWE is his "family" and he will NEVER retire from the wrestling company.

The 40-year-old has without doubt been the biggest star for Vince McMahon's business this millennium - with many believing he is the greatest of all-time.

However, after being the leader of the dressing-room for over a decade, he suffered a crushing defeat to Roman Reigns at No Mercy last month with many speculating it was his final fight.

The 16-time world champion, a joint-record with the legendary Ric Flair, appeared to say his goodbyes to the supporters after the bout.

He stayed in the squared-circle after the match, bowing to the crowd, waving and taking pictures with supporters at ringside.

Cena, who sensationally proposed to fellow WWE superstar Nikki Bella at WrestleMania, also lifted Reigns' arm in triumph after the fight, seemingly passing on the mantle to the next superstar in line.

The Monday Night RAW hero also hugged fans and family, before solemnly walking up the ramp towards the backstage area and then saluted the arena before heading for the exit of the locker room.

Cena has recently taken on a part-time role in WWE recently due to an increased presence in Hollywood, including a role in the upcoming Transformers film Bumblebee.

WWE fans received another boost this week when the company announced the return of The Undertaker.

Despite him not being scheduled for an in-ring comeback, he is due to work for the company again in December.
