Hughie Fury’s management team confirms appeal process has STARTED after boxer lost controversial points decision in world title bout against Joseph Parker

Mick Hennessy was furious after the fight saying that he was prepared to 'get his lawyers involved' after Fury failed in his quest for the WBO belt

HUGHIE FURY'S management team has confirmed the appeal process to overturn his controversial world title loss to Joseph Parker has begun.

And SunSport can exclusively reveal that now the dust has settled, Hennessy Sports are pushing on with their promise to appeal the decision.

A spokesman told SunSport: "We are currently working on the appeal process at the moment.

"[There is] no further information yet."

Fury tied on judge Rocky Young's scorecard 114-114, while both Terry O'Connor and John Madfis scored it 118-110 to Parker.

It led to Hughie's elder cousin Tyson going beserk in the ring when the decision was announced.

Backstage at the Manchester Arena, Fury's promoter Mick Hennessy pulled no punches of his own as he fumed at the result, labelling it as "corruption".

He said: “I’m not being funny, what the f**k is going on?

“Let’s tell the truth here, let everyone tell the truth, there is something going on, something behind bull***t decisions like that

“I want to get that overturned. I want to find out who is behind bull***t like that. What is happening to this boxing game.

“The footwork, how light he glided around that ring, landing jabs at will, it was shades of Muhammad Ali in the way he was moving.

“Why can’t that be appreciated? What the hell is going on?

“To me that is corruption of the highest level in boxing. I know it’s a strong word, but I’m telling you know, there are forces at work around in this game.”

He then said that he was prepared to "get his lawyers involved".

It is notably hard to get a result overturned in boxing, and once the appeal is lodged, Hennessy will soon find out whether he indeed has to take further legal proceedings.

Hennessy went on to slam judge Terry O'Connor, who was switched from referee for the fight to scorer after a request from Parker's team.

He added: "Terry has buckled under the pressure, he really has.

“Hughie wiped the floor with Parker. I gave him only two rounds.

“I thought it was a masterclass for Hughie, the footwork, how he glided around the ring, landing jabs at will.

“It was shades of Muhammad Ali. Why can’t that be appreciated?

“Do they score hitting fresh air and hitting elbows and arms?”

Fury had not fought in 17 months due to the effects of a debilitating skin condition, but was hoping to become the second family member to win a world title following elder cousin Tyson’s famous 2015 win over Wladimir Klitschko.
