Tragic teen racer Billy Monger learns to walk again after having both legs amputated in horror F4 crash

Teenager's life drastically changed when he smashed into the back of a stationary race car during an event at Donington Park in April

TEENAGE F4 racing driver Billy Monger has shared heartwarming images of himself learning to walk again five months after his horror crash.

The 18-year-old had both legs amputated when he smashed into the back of a stationary race car in April at Donington Park.

Monger, who was 17 at the time, spent nearly a month in hospital recovering after being trapped in his mangled vehicle for 90 minutes.

Racing legends including Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button came together show their support for 'Billy Whizz'.

And with his incredible positive attitude, Billy has shared the remarkable progress he has been making on Twitter.

Alongside pictures of him learning to walk, he wrote: "Hard work pays off. Still a long way to go but making progress every day.

"Thanks to the incredible team of physio's working around me."

And Monger is ready to give something back as he prepares to walk round part of the Brands Hatch circuit for charity.

Reported by the BBC, he added: "It's time for me to give back... without the help of the incredible team of medics and the air ambulance I most likely wouldn't be here today."

Monger says he hopes to walk the entire length of the pit lane on Saturday with funds raised going to the air ambulance service.

Motor sport fans around the world were touched after hearing the teenager's story and helped raise £800,000 in his name.
