Tyson Fury rants at British Boxing Board of Control boss Robert Smith after cousin Hughie’s world title defeat as former champ’s licence row continues

Joseph Parker retained his WBO crown by being the more aggressive fighter and the ex-champ was not happy

TYSON FURY went berserk at The British Board of Boxing Control boss - Robert Smith - after his cousin Hughie's world title loss.

The BBBofC was in charge of the points defeat and they are withholding Tyson's licence over a failed drugs test almost two years ago - a recipe for a row with the giant.

Fury launched a long and aggressive tirade at Smith, inside the Manchester ring, though it remains unclear if the topic was Hughie’s result, his missing licence, or both.

A doping suspension hangs over the Traveller and he has been out of the ring for almost two years after his stunning victory in Germany over Wladimir Klitschko in November 2015.

Fury’s own admission to recreational drug use and mental health issues – as well as a worrying battle with his weight – will not have helped his cause.

But until the UK Anti-Doping agency hold his hearing – and give him a fair trial – he has nothing to train or fight for.

In a recent emotional message Fury begged the governing bodies to at least give him a fair hearing.

He said: "How long must I be held up and kept out of action? It's been 15 months since I've been under investigation, you're keeping an innocent man from fulfilling his destiny and from providing for his family.

";Everybody else is dealt with in a few months, why must I be treated any differently?

"Surely there must be a human rights law preventing this from happening to people!

"Either ban me or set me free as I've been in limbo for a long time! I want to move on with my life!

"Clear my name and let me return to my former glory."

WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders feels Futy could commit suicide if his case is not dealt with soon.

Saunders believes the uncertainty is cruel to his friend and fellow fighter and he says the BBBofC – which Smith heads - will have blood on their hands if Fury harms himself.

“Tyson has come a long way from when this all started. He has got over mental health issues.

“At one stage, I was a bit worried about him. He was talking about suicide on the phone.

"I had to give him a wake-up call. Thank God, the last eight months he has seen a light at the end of the tunnel, he has seen hope, he has overcome all that.

“He has really knuckled down, he has lost two stone, he is mentally in a good place and if anything happens with Tyson's life I will be blaming the British Boxing Board of Control because boxing is his life.

“He doesn't know how to do anything else. He can’t go and get a normal job.

"He can’t go and keep his mind occupied. He is a born fighter through and through.

"It is all he has ever known to do and people are stopping him doing it for no apparent reason.

"Let’s give him his licence back, let him crack on and get on with his life.

“This could really, really affect his life, if not take his life, because if this gets as bad as it did 16 months ago, there is no coming back for him.

"I really hope that they see sense and let him get back to doing what he loves doing.”
