Invictus Games 2017: Who is Daraine Mulvihill? TV host presented the Paralympics at London 2012 and Rio 2016
DARAINE MULVIHILL is an Irish TV personality and has presented the Paralympic Games in London and Rio.
She sadly lost both of her legs when she was 16, after surviving meningitis.
Who is Daraine Mulvihill?
After losing her legs at the age of 16, people did not expect her to survive meningitis.
She then went on to graduate at Dublin City University after studying Communications Studies.
In 2012, she was brought in to present the morning show program for the London Paralympic Games after studying for the role since the beginning of the year.
Speaking on the job, she said: "Having gone through something similar to the athletes and living a life that faces up to some of the same challenges as them, I do think I have a natural affinity that other journalists might not have."
She then went on to cover the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games for RTE2 - which is shown in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
When is the Invictus Games?
The Invictus Games will be held from September 23 to September 30, 2017.
TV information is yet to be confirmed but last year’s games were shown on BBC.
The Games are an international, Paralympic-style multi-sport event and were the brainchild of Prince Harry.
The Games were created for wounded, injured or sick armed services personnel to take part in a variet of sports.
Who can compete in the Invictus Games?
The Invictus Games is a parasport event for wounded, injured or sick armed services personnel and their associated veterans.
Athletes from Afghanistan, Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Estonia, Georgia, Germany, Iraq, Italy, Jordan, Netherlands, New Zealand, the UK and the United States will compete.
Romania and Ukraine are also entering for the first time.
