It took club top scorer Edinson Cavani until the 75th minute to break the deadlock with a right footed strike from six-yards out following a delivery from Giovani Lo Celso.

With just four minutes to go, Jeremy Morel put the ball into his own net to double Unai Emery's sides tally.

PSG were slow to get off the mark and the visitors dominated in the early stages of the Ligue 1 fixture.

Memphis Depay came close to giving Lyon an advantage after just seven minutes, but his left-footed effort was parried to safety by Areola.

Just after the half hour mark, Tanguy NDombele provided Nabil Fekir with a golden opportunity to score the opener from the edge of the area.

However, the French youngster lost his composure and sent the strike way over the woodwork.

£198million man Neymar came close, but his right-footed effort from distance was saved in the top centre of the goal.

Both sides had a catalogue of chances, but neither were unable to break the deadlock before the interval.

After the break, the frustration continued for Unai Emery's side.

Marcelo came close to a 70th minute goal, but the Lyon defender's headed effort was easily collected by the hands of Areola.

Cavani then went on to score just five minutes later, before missing a golden opportunity to double his tally.

Kylian Mbappe went to ground in the area after being fouled by Ferland Mendy to win the home side a penalty.

Cavani steps up, but his penalty is saved.
