Alexis Sanchez: Chile fans launch protest against Arsenal ace’s girlfriend because she is making him ‘fat and lazy’
A staggering 9,000 people are interested in attending a march on October 5 as they believe it will help Chile qualify for the World Cup
CHILE fans have launched an extraordinary protest in a bid for Alexis Sanchez to dump his girlfriend because she is making him “fat and lazy”.
Angry supporters of the national side want the unsettled Arsenal ace back to his best after Chile lost 1-0 to Bolivia in their World Cup qualifying clash.
But instead of blaming the 28-year-old for his performances in a Chile shirt, supporters believe it is the fault of his girlfriend Mayte Rodriguez.
And they have taken their own course of action by creating a Facebook event calling for a protest march against their relationship.
A page has been set up on the social media site titled “March so that Alexis ends it with Mayte and returns to his level to reach the 2018 World Cup in Russia.”
Remarkably 9,000 people are interested in attending the march on October 5 near the national stadium.
Sanchez has only been dating the actress this year but it appears Chilean nationals do not seem to approve.
Their views have been echoed by that of former Chile Under-20 boss Jose Sulantay who criticised Sanchez for being “fatter than normal”.
He told : “I saw him gone, I saw him out of physical shape, totally.
“He’s fatter than normal.
“Without his spark, he never left that Paraguayan defence behind. He never made a diagonal run, it was something else. It was not Alexis.”
It has been a turbulent last couple of weeks for Sanchez.
After his dream move to Manchester City collapsed on transfer deadline day, Sanchez came out with a new outburst on Instagram after the defeat to Bolivia.
In it he claims how he is “tired of being criticised” and “crying after a defeat.”
He wrote: “You get tired of being criticised with reason and without reason, you get tired of those who want you to lose, you get tired of saying to yourself: ‘I’ll get up again,’ after crying after a defeat.
“You get tired of telling the world and people who are with you that everything is going well. And the worst is that no one ever realises how that makes you feel.
“I have the No7 of Chile on my back and it is a huge responsibility. That’s why it makes me sad that journalists and bad people criticise without knowing.”
