Sporting Lisbon confirm Adrien Silva IS joining Leicester to replace Chelsea-bound Danny Drinkwater
After failing to sign him last summer, the Foxes have finally completed a deal for the midfield ace
SPORTING CP confirm that they have sold midfield ace Adrien Silva to Leicester, but the deal is awaiting English FA approval.
The 28-year-old is set to complete a move to the King Power Stadium to fill the void left by Danny Drinkwater's switch to Chelsea.
The Foxes saw a bid of £25m swiftly rejected for the midfielder last year, but this time round he has been given the go-ahead for a move to the Premier League.
Silva was given permission to leave the Portugal training camp to complete his medical with the former Premier League champions.
He has been in high demand during this transfer window, with West Brom indicating their keen interest in the Sporting Lisbon skipper earlier this summer.
The 28-year-old has been earmarked as Drinkwater's replacement following the 27-year-old's £35m move to Chelsea.
Silva has played the majority of his career with the Portuguese outfit after making his first-team debut at the age of 18.
After playing an integral role for the Portugal international side during their triumphant Euro 2016 win, the central midfielder attracted a lot of outsider interest.
Leicester City have endured a tough transfer market, but boss Craig Shakespeare has managed to bring in a new number of new faces.
Kelechi Iheanacho from Manchester City marks the record signing of the summer, which set Leicester City back £24.9m.
However, the Foxes have also offloaded a number of players - including Drinkwater, Tom Lawrence, Ron-Robert Zieler, Bartosz Kapustka and Nampalys Mendy.
